The Foundation for the Mid South in partnership with the WK Kellogg Foundation is currently leading an effort to engage organizations and individuals in our community visioning and planning grant around Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation (TRHT). Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (TRHT) is a comprehensive, national, and community-based process to plan for and bring about transformational and sustainable change, and to address the historic and contemporary effects of racism.
Our goal is to use lessons learned from the TRHT process to assist us in creating a fund to help educate community members on important issues and support local leaders to create systemic change. The plan is to utilize research-based approaches to engage various Mississippi voices and perspectives to better understand the state and document lessons learned.
The team was hard at work collecting data from varying demographics on the racial landscape in Mississippi this summer. The primary instrument for the data collection was an eight question digital survey. After receiving some promising preliminary data, the team is preparing to move into the next phase of the project that will involve one-on-one and group interviews.
Our team is excited about the Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation work and look forward to sharing our results. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions at TRHTinfo@fndmidsouth.org.
