Aja Purvis is one of the driving forces behind the financial operations at the Foundation for the Mid South. A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Aja has a deep love for the South and sets out to forge a career that successfully combines her dual interests in Southern philanthropy and financial acumen.

Aja began her professional journey with the Foundation as an Accountant intern in May of 2023, where she demonstrated expertise and commitment, eventually assuming the role of Staff Accountant in January of 2024. With a B.B.A. in Accounting from the esteemed Jackson State University, Aja’s academic background mirrors her unwavering determination. Fueled by an aspiration for knowledge and growth, she is on the cusp of a new academic chapter, commencing her pursuit of a Master of Professional Accountancy degree from her cherished alma mater in the forthcoming fall of 2024.

Beyond her professional prowess, Aja is also a cornerstone of her community. Throughout her tenure at Jackson State University, she not only excelled academically but also exhibited exceptional leadership, holding numerous influential positions as President of the Society for Entrepreneurs and Historian of the Glamorous Gamma Rho Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Even after graduation, her dedication to service remains steadfast as she actively volunteers, effecting tangible change in the lives of those around her.

Aja remains a committed member of her beloved sorority and an active member of the National Association for Black Accountants (NABA). Additionally, she is a member of Word of Life Church, underscoring her values of empathy and community enrichment.
