Healthy Southern Cities: State Highlight: Arkansas
City of Clarendon, Arkansas

The City of Clarendon, Arkansas lead by Mayor James Stinson III, has identified new and exciting ways to promote physical activity and have a healthy impact in their community.  The city added exercise stations and detailed directions to their existing walking trails.  These efforts have enhanced the walking experience and increased the number of residents using the walking track and exercise stations to 25 on a weekly basis.

Partnerships with Mid-Delta Health Systems and the Monroe County Home and Health Improvement Coalition work to increase awareness for the new enhanced walking trails and equipment and instruct residents on the importance of exercise in maintaining a balanced, healthy lifestyle.
Members of the community have come together to form exercise groups and help promote healthy behaviors and leverage resources to have a greater impact for the City of Clarendon.
