The Power of Hope Fund was established by Entergy to provide assistance for those impacted by Hurricane Gustav. Entergy Corporation seeded the fund with an initial donation.
The focus of the fund is to help families get back on their feet after the disaster. The fund will award grants to local nonprofit agencies serving impacted communities, as well as Entergy employees who sustained losses in the disaster.
“Just three years after Katrina and Rita, we are faced again with the challenge of helping our customers and employees rebuild their lives,” said Curtis Hebert, Jr. group vice president of external affairs for Entergy Corporation. “Even as we anticipate an aggressive, large-scale power restoration effort, we want to ensure that local communities will receive support from Entergy.
The fund is administered through the Foundation for the Mid South. One hundred percent of all contributions will go directly to provide assistance to hurricane victims. All contributions are tax-deductible.
Donors will be able to designate their contribution to benefit local agencies providing hurricane relief or a special fund benefiting Entergy employees who were impacted. However, donations may not be designated to specific individuals.
